Early Times Report

RAJOURI, Mar 9: The state government's decision of rotational Additional Deputy Commissioners (ADCs) for Kotranka, Kalakot, Nowshera and Sunderbani respectively have led to large scale resentment among the residents as series of anti-government protests rocked these areas.
Residents of Nowshera Sub-Division are on indefinite strike and chain hunger strike for the last 22 days demanding district status for Nowshera with HQs at Nowshera under the umbrella of Beopar Mandal headed by Subhash Kapoor.
The agitating people today blocked the Jammu-Poonch highway at Tain Bridge to express their resentment against government's decision and in favour of district status.
On Thursday, in the late evening hours people came out on the streets and youth pelted stones on the SDM office to express their resentment against rotational ADC.
A delegation of Nowshera Joint Action Committee (JAC) headed by Subhash Kapoor, today met Chief Minister at Jammu.
Subhash Kapoor while talking to Early Times said in the one hour long discussion, the Chief Minister was apprised that Nowshera is the oldest tehsil while Kalakot constituency was its part. Kalakot and Sunderbani were looked after by the SDM Nowshera, even today Additional SP (ASP) office for Sunderbani, Kalakot and Nowshera operates at Nowsher and three tehsils were added in Nowshera Sub-Division in 2014, he added.
"CM was not aware of these factors. She assured the delegation to re-discuss the rotational ADC issue with the BJP ministers and the concerned legislators.CM shall meet the delegation again after 2-3 days," said Kapoor.
He said a BJP delegation including ministers Bali Bhagat and Abdul Ghani Kohli, BJP state president Sat Sharma, MP Jugal Kishore and BJP MLA from Nowshera, Ravinder Raina had come to Nowshera recently. They had assured that in the month of April, the decision for district status will be discussed in the cabinet meeting, till then ADC office will operate from Nowshera.
"We are still waiting for that commitment. The arrangement of rotational ADC is not acceptable to us and we will continue our struggle for a separate ADC office and till final decision for district status," said Kapoor.
Meanwhile, residents of Kalakot and Sunderbani also continued their demand for district status and people of Sunderbani said that they will decide their further course of action after they receive in writing the government order about the rotational ADC decision.
As per reports a police cop has received minor injuries during protest demonstration at Kalakot today. Residents of Kotranka Sub Division have also started protest demonstration to express their resentment against rotational ADC for Kotranka and Kalakot.
They said that they will not allow ADC, Kotrnaka to move to Kalakot on weekly rotational basis and reportedly have given bandh call in favour of their resentment.
