Impromptu pen down call, secretariat employees proceed on indefinite strike

Early Times Report

Jammu, Mar 9: An emergency meeting of the J&K Civil Secretariat Employees Coordination Committee (JKCSECC) was held on Friday under chairmanship of Ghulam Rasool Mir, (chairman, Coordination Committee) and others who also participated in the meeting included Maqbool Hussain president Lower Grade Employees Union (LGEU) besides all office bearers and executive members.
During the course of the meeting, it was observed that the Government is not serious to resolve the cadre review of the employees. While taking overall view of the Governments stand it was noticed that the issues are being tossed from one corner to another only to kill the time.
Though the Chief Minister had made the commitment on several occasions earlier for resolving the important issue of cadre review of all non-gazetted employees viz; GAD, Planning, Accounts and Legal Services for which the committee was constituted.
During the meeting the following issues were deliberated upon and put forth before authorities for consideration:- They included, Illegal induction/ promotion of Direct Recruits into KAS particularly 2008 batch against the slots meant for feeding Services (promotees) thereby diverting the quota, which is against the spirit of Supreme Court Judgement; GAD (Services) is of the habit of raising un-necessary queries / observations while making promotions in feeding services thereby keeping the promotions of 2009 and 2010 hanging in balance since long; Despite approval of the chief minister and followed by concurrence of Finance Department, the recommendations of the Cadre Review Committee arebeing deferred deliberately thus forcing the employees on the path of confrontation/ agitation.
The JKCSECC has decided to go on indefinite strike from Friday (March 9, 2018 afternoon). All employees shall assemble in the Secretariat Lawns to participate in the programme.
