Drug peddler held with 11 gram heroin | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Mar 11: In continuation to the drive against drugs launched by SSP Jammu, Vivek Gupta, today a success was achieved by Gangyal police when one notorious drug peddler was apprehended and seized 11 gm heroin (chitta) from his possession. Police spokesman said that today a routine naka was established at Greater Kailash Naka point and one pedestrian who was coming from forest chowk towards Greater Kailash was asked to stop but he has tried to flee from the spot, was overpowered by the alert cops. "On questioning he disclosed his name as Manjot Singh alias Mannu of Preet Nagar Gangyal", said spokesman adding that during his personnel search heroin (Chitta) like substance weighing 11 gram recovered from his possession. Spokesman further said that on further questioning he disclosed that he had brought the consignment from Punjab and selling drugs among the youth and ruining the society in and around Jammu city. In this regard a case under FIR No 21/2018 under section 8/21/22 NDPS Act has been registered at Gangyal police station while more recoveries are expected as there is every possibility of involvement of more persons. It is pertinent to mention here that three cases under FIR No 224/16, FIR No 49/17 and FIR No 212/17 U/S 8/21/22/NDPS Act in Gandhi Nagar police station had already been registered against him. The arrest was made by SI Nayat Ali SHO Gangyal and SI Vicky Thapa in-charge police post Greater Kailash under the close supervision of Rafiq Manhas , SDPO City South Jammu and Sandeep Choudhary, SP South. |
