CM to be responsible if peace derailed in Jammu
3/11/2018 11:08:44 PM
For several years the region of Jammu has remained peaceful when compared to the vale of Kashmir where militants keep on staging dance of death and destruction. Except for ceasefire violations on the IB in Jammu sector there have been for the last four years,no major militancy related incident. Yes,several thousand people living on this side of the IB have been inconvenienced when their houses and huts were hit by mortar shells and some civilians were injured forcing them to flee to safer places. And i n between abduction, rape and murder of an eight-year old girl, belonging to a muslim Gujjar family, surfaced in Hiranagar. And the man involved in it was found to an SPO who has been sacked already. In between surfaced a series of protest marches by Hindu Ekta Manch(HEM). And besides assuming regional and communal dimensions he issue has a power to destabilize peace in Jammu region and already the Hindus back the SPO while the muslims support Chief Minister who has refused to handover the case to the CBI on the plea that the Crime Branch has done a great job and the law will take its course. The incident has not assumed regional colour but also communal hues which may endanger peace I n the region
As far as communal hue is concerned the Muslim Action Committee (MAC) and other prominent Muslim organisations of Jammu have demanded resignation of BJP ministers for participating in rally convened by Hindu Ekta Manch (HEM) in support of accused arrested by police for their involvement in rape and murder of 8-year-old girl Asifa. The MAC and other Muslim organisations held a meeting under the chairmanship of President Muslim Action Committee Mohammad Sharif Sartaj and General Secretary Zahoor Ahmed. The meeting discussed threadbare the participation of two BJP ministers in a rally in support of the rapists and murders of minor girl.
The participants condemned the BJP ministers - Lal Singh and Chander Prakash Ganga - for attending the rally organized by HEM in support of the rapists. They condemned the statement of the minister, who had asked police not to make any more arrest and termed crime branch investigation as "Jungle Raaj". They also slammed Lal Singh's statement in which he had allegedly said that "if a girl has died then many girls could have died here before also" and asked people to defy the probationary orders.
If peace is derailed in Jammu region no other leader should be held responsible except for the Chief Minister who has shown her de termination not to handover the case to the CBI. The HEM members have a scare that the p;robe conducted by the crime Branch could be biased and hence demanded CBI probe.
What Mehbooba is not willing to get the case probed by the CBI ? Does she fear that the central Government could influence the CBI probe ? If it is so why demands multiply from many states for a CBI probe ? Why even the opposition Congress leaders opt for a probe by the CBI ?
These are questions which need to be asked to Chief Minister. Does she want to strengthen the muslim vote bank in the region which could be correct as she has given up hope as far as Kashmir valley is concerned where she has suffered erosion in her vote bank because of joining hands with the BJP.If Mehbooba want s to ensure peace and harmony in the region of Jammu she should accept the HEM demand.
