No preparation time, CUK entrance exams being held hurriedly!
Students cry foul play, varsity authorities silent

Early Times Report

Srinagar, Mar : In a major shocker for students aspiring for various degree courses through Cluster University of Kashmir(CUK), the varsity is scheduled to hold the entrance “hurriedly” within ten days of submission of the application forms.
The Cluster University of Kashmir had invited applications for various professional courses including 5-year integrated masters, 3-year honors and other three year courses in subjects like Economics, Science, IT and Humanities.
While the last date for submission of application forms was March 5, the varsity has come up with a notification that the entrance exam will be held from March 15.
The aspirants for the courses are shocked at “early entrance exam” pleading that they are not being given “due preparation time.”
Officials said usually such entrance exams are held atleast a month after the submission of application forms. “This has never happened in the history of education at university levels in Jammu and Kashmir before that the exams are being held in less than a fortnight from the date of submission of application form. Normally students are given at least one month to prepare,” said a former Vice Chancellor who has served in Kashmir. He said ten days was “unnatural time span being given to the students for preparation.”
A senior official at the Cluster University admitted the “flaw in the hurried date sheet.”
“Given the huge syllabus which includes their class 11 and 12 curriculum, and additional subjects like mathematics and English, it is impossible for students to prepare within 10 days but we are helpless,” said a senior official on the condition of anonymity.
The students on the other hand said the Cluster University authorities are playing with their career. “We have to study around 5,000 pages. Studying so much of text in 10 days means 500 pages everyday, which is humanly quite impossible,” a delegation of students told Early Times.
The students said though they approached the Cluster University officials for postponement of date sheet, the latter expressed inability to help them out.
“As our future is dark, we are so depressed that we may commit suicide and onus of any such incident will squarely lie on the Cluster University,” the students have threatened the varsity authorities.
The students appealed Governor NN Vohra and Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti to get the exams postponed so that they get time to prepare.
Sources said there was a “secret” issue because of which the Cluster University wants the exams be held so “hurriedly.” But then, what is the issue? (To be concluded)
