PDD employees express resentment over suspension of two engineers

Jammu, Mar 21: Against the harassment and suspension of two senior engineers, a joint forum of Jammu and Kashmir Electrical Engineer Graduates Association (JKEEGA), All Jammu and Kashmir Diploma Engineer Association, PPEU, Lineman and Workers Union, 1TI Diploma Holders Association, Jammu and Kashmir non gazetted electrical employees Association, Provincial Electrical Employee Union hold a meeting.
According to press release, all employees of JKPDD showed great resentment and anger over the hasty decision of the government to suspend senior engineers without giving them a chance to explain their position. "What is even more disgusting is the fact that one of the Engineers having joined the division around four month back had only three month to go far his retirement. The Engineers vowed to take the recent action of the higher authorities seriously as it is fraught with the lacunae and it warrants opposition at all levels given the fact that these officers were made scapegoats for the sins committed by others", they said.
The Members firmly decided to intensify its agitation peacefully to give a message to the government to desist from targeting the hapless engineers every now and then on one pretext or the other.
In the instant case Rajan Gupta S.E PDD Circle Kishtwar and Niyaz Ahmed Sheikh Ex. Engineer Electric Division Kishtwar were suspended vide order No:- 81-PDD of 2018 dated:- 19-03-2018 for alleged inability to meet the timelines for electrification works in the district.
The members asked the higher authorities as to whether the resources, men & material were ever provided to these engineers for such execution in treacherous terrain amid weather vagaries, second was there an deadline fixed and communicated well in advance to these engineers before taking such a harsh step. "Even the requisite approvals needed for carrying out such Projects was never accorded forget about the" providing of logistics"", they said.
