Tuberculosis awareness programe held at ASCOMS

Jammu, Apr 4: World Tuberculosis Day was observed by Acharya Shri Chander College of Medical Sciences (ASCOMS) to create awareness on Tuberculosis and its treatment. Various activities were conducted, Nimita Sethi and Mahin Samad (Final Year MBBS students) and Akshi Gupta, Abhishek and Akash Salaria (Pre Final MBBS students) spoke about various aspects of Tuberculosis and RNTCP.
This was followed by a skit on awareness of TB and its complete course of treatment and acted by the nursing students. The skit highlighted about Tuberculophobia among people, about the investigations to be done and the complete course of medicines to be taken to treat Tuberculosis. Rabojeet Singh and Akash Choudhary (Final Year MBBS Students) presented a video creating awareness about Tuberculosis vs DOTS highlighted importance of DOTS for treating Tuberculosis. Dr. Kamini District TB Officer, J&K State Health Dept. highlighted the various initiatives taken by Govt. of India to eradicate TB.
Dr. Yashpal Sharma, Mission Director National Health Mission (NHM) and Registrar Academics was the Chief Guest for the event.
Dr. Pavan Malhotra Director Principal ASCOMS Hospital congratulated the students and organizers for putting up such an informative event. The event was attended by various faculty members, staff members, MBBS students and Nursing students. Dr. Najma Kokab and Dr. Priyanka Mahajan helped in coordinating the activity. Dr. Ravinder K Gupta, Head Department of Pediatrics and Nodal Officer RNTCP, ASCOMS organized the whole activity. The skit and video were conceptualized under the guidance of him only.
