Security agencies have warned of spike in terror attacks

Early Times Report

Srinagar, Apr 4: Days after security forces killed thirteen local terrorists, security agencies have warned of spike in terror attacks in Jammu and Kashmir in coming months. Pakistani backed terror groups Jaish-e-Mohammed and the Hizbul Mujahideen were preparing the ground for a massive upsurge in violence for which they are working overtime to reignite the fires of jihad in the state.
Sources in Special Operation Group of Jammu and Kashmir Police told Mirror that Pakistani establishments had changed the line, now they recruit Pakistani terrorists from Lashker-e-Toiba to Jaish and other groups, who have become very active in recent months.
He said Pakistan is focusing and investing more in Jaish and Hizbul, and the reason is that both the terror outfits have strong network in Valley.
"Both the terror outfits are taking advantage of radicalization and militancy among Kashmiri youth, which is on the rise," he said.
He said this year we are likely to see several joint operations between the JeM and the Hizbul Mujahideen.
Meanwhile, Army has started redeployment of its troops anticipating a more determined bid by Pakistan to push in more terrorists from across the Line of Control. Army will now have dynamic patrolling by additional troops besides area domination drills to prevent terrorists who are trying to infiltrate into this side of State. Army had also decided to increase the pattern of aerial surveillance by helicopters and unmanned aerial vehicles or drones to cover mountainous terrain. Intelligence reports indicate that the new batches of terrorists likely to sneak in from across the LoC and wreak havoc in the Kashmir valley.
Sources said that Army has also intensified patrolling in the hinterland as most terrorists will try to converge in South Kashmir after sneaking in from North Kashmir.
"South Kashmir is now the most restive part of the State and the security forces fear that terrorists will make all-out efforts to step up levels of violence in South Kashmir leading to mass protests," he said
"There are about sizable number of foreign terrorists now hiding in North Kashmir," he said.
