JU students JAC warns dharna outside Raj Bhawan

Jammu, Apr 6: Warning agitation against the Jammu University and dharna outside Raj Bhawan, Students Joint Action Committee said that JU failed to fulfill the assurance made by the authorities during negitation. In a press conference held by Jammu University Students Joint Action Committee it was disclosed that if the Dean Students Welfare Jammu University who is accused of beating a student is not transferred or sent on leave, the student will start agitation.
Giving details, Nishant Gupta student of Buddhist Studies, said that on 22nd March of this month, the Dean Student Welfare had beaten a student during protest, the video of which was widely circulated on social media and that further resulted in mass agitation by the students with demands for action against DSW and for other demands including installation of CCTV cameras in campus, women security personal, Wi-fi and round the clock food facility in the campus. The University authorities held negotiation with the Joint Action Committee comprising of various student leaders and in writing agreed to all the demands of the agitating students and also assured the members of the Joint Action Committee that the students representation will be given in the enquiry committee that is constituted to enquire in to the incident of beating of student by the DSW and also assured that pending enquiry the DSW will be transferred or sent on leave so that she has no influence on the enquiry committee .
