Samba, Apr 6: The clean India campaign launched by Center Government has been demeaned by District Administration Samba with heaps of garbage lying unattended at the DC Office premises exposing its non seriousness towards this significant issue.
Sources told Early Times that ever since the launch of Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, the district administration Samba has spent lakhs of rupees to create awareness among the people across the district but it seems, the authorities have forgotten the DC office as it is `decorated' with heaps of garbage.
Although, administration charges people with a cess in the name of Swachh Bharat Abhiyan but hardly spends it on cleanliness in the premises.
People alleged that the garbage dumped in front of DC Office emanates foul smell which makes the stay of people difficult.
The progress of cleanliness campaign in the district can be gauged from the pathetic view of piles of garbage dotted at District Administration office. Similar is the condition of other areas including Vijaypur, Samba where garbage remained unattended for days nobody from the concerned department visits these areas to lift the trash, they alleged.
The poor functioning of administration in this connection has created problems for common people, who are exposed to various deceases as the heaps of garbage have become breeding group for flies, mosquitoes etc., they said.
Deputy Commissioner Samba, Rajinder Singh Tara, when contacted said that he would enquire about the issue and the erring official will be taken to task. "The cleanliness in our surrounding is very important and we should make every efforts to make out area clean and any laxity in this regard will not be tolerated," he added. |
