BANDIPORA, Apr 6: Police on Friday morning recovered a headless body in Hajin area of this north Kashmir district.
The youth had been abducted by militants on Wednesday night from his home in Bonkhan Mohalla area of Hajin.
Police said Manzoor Ahmed Bhat was abducted by the militants of outlawed Lashkar-e Toiba (LeT).
According to police, a local militant Mohammad Saleem Parray is believed to have played a major role in the killing of Manzoor, 25.
It is pertinent to mention here that Manzoor was abducted by militants after they barged into his house and shot at his father Abdul Gaffar Bhat.
While Gaffar escaped after receiving bullets and knife injuries, Manzoor was kidnapped by the gunmen. Gaffar is battling for his life at a Srinagar hospital.
Meanwhile, former Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Friday criticized separatists for maintaining silence over Manzoor's gruesome murder.
In a series of tweets, Omar said he is not surprised that no shutdown call was issued to protest against the killing. "Any shutdown call or call for "peaceful protests" for Manzoor Ahmed whose decapitated body was found in North Kashmir after he'd been abducted & killed by militants? No? I'm not surprised".
Omar also said that a deliberate attempt to term the perpetrators as "unknown gunmen" is to give them a safe escape.
"The "unknown gunmen" are conveniently termed to give cover to those who don't want to/can't criticize terrorist crimes," he wrote.
Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti has strongly condemned the beheading of the youth. In a statement, the Chief Minister said the inhuman way in which the youth was done to death is against the social ethos and cultural value system of people of the State.
The Chief Minister has conveyed her sympathies with the bereaved family.
