'Major injured in cross border fire

Rajouri, Apr 6: Within last 24 hours, Pakistan army has violated truce agreement in Nowshera sub division twice resulting in injuries to Major A. Banerjee. Pakistan army has been targeting Indian forward posts and civil areas in Lam, Jhangar , Sarya, Pukhrani etc since 5.30 pm. "Indian army is retaliating strongly and effectively" said defence spokesman. On Friday at about 7 pm an army Major while on duty at forward location in Nowshera sub division received splinter injuries when Pakistan army resorted to unprovoked firing and shelling on Indian forward posts at about 7 pm on Thursday. Major Abhishek has reportedly received splinter injuries below the legs and after providing initial treatment at forward location he was referred to Army hospital at Rajouri and is out of danger and stable. For the last three days Pakistan army has intermittently been targeting Indian forward posts and civil areas along the line of control in Rajouri & Poonch districts.
On April 4, a mortar shell fired by Pakistan army landed in the lawn of Bhola Ram in village Kharali in Nowsera sector and he along with his minor daughter Sangeeta were injured and were admitted in the hospital. On April 3, five soldiers including Lieutenant were injured in KrishnaGhati sector in Poonch district when Pakistan army resorted to unprovoked heavy shelling on Indian forward posts.
No loss to life or property was reported from Nowshera at the time of filing this report.
