Early Times Report
JAMMU, Apr 27: Former Ministers and senior Congress leaders R S Chib and Jugal Kishore Sharma today termed the observations of the Supreme Court (SC) with regard to Rasana case in Kathua, dropping enough indications to transfer the case to CBI for fair trial as major relief to the victim's family as well as the people of Kathua, Samba and Jammu who were demanding probe by the Central Bureau of Investigation.
In a joint press statement issued here today, both the senior Congress leaders said that general people from Rassana, Hiranagar, Kathua and even entire Jammu region, were demanding justice for the victim's family and severest punishment to the real culprits in the case. They lauded the role of Bar Council of India who sent a fact fining team to Jammu for listening to all the people including victim's family, general public and accused families. They revealed the facts before the apex court. They said people have high hopes on the CBI and it is expected that apex court would take appropriate steps in this regard. They said that voice of the majority of the people should be listened in the democratic set up.
They condemned the role of certain forces which were trying to create wedge in the society and engineering communal divide over this issue and cautioned the people to remain vigilant from such forces and vested interests.
While reacting strongly to the statement of Union Minister in PMO, Dr Jitendra Singh that centre has no problem if state government recommends CBI probe into Rasana rape and murder case, senior Congress leaders said that Dr Singh who is also BJP Parliamentarian from Kathua-Udhampur-Doda constituency, has tried to befool the people of the State by putting onus on the state government.
They said that it becomes the prime responsibility of Dr Singh to provide justice to the victim and her family and also to the people who are demanding that real culprits in the case should be brought to justice and severest punishment be given to them by holding a CBI probe. Then why the BJP was dragging its feet?
