Early Times Report
JAMMU, apr 27: Health department of the state government is likely to open four Haemophila centres in Jammu province despite the protracted struggle of patients, suffering from deadly disease, but it seems, the centres will open without proper allied facilities including physiotherapy, concrete factors and others. Hemophilia is a genetic disorder wherein the blood does not clot, which manifests itself through bleeding in the muscles and joints, causing disability. An adult needs about four infusions a month to stay active or go to work. Highly placed sources informed Early Times that concerned department had to concede to the long pending demands of the Haemophilia patients of far flung areas, who had to cover long distances to get treatment in Jammu city or Srinagar aggravating their problem. Sources vehemently asserted that the concerned authorities were more concerned about the formalities to be completed by the patients, while treating doctor should treat the patient, who is bleeding, on the basis of patient's history card and then complete the formalities. Currently, the patients of far flung areas have to cover long distances risking their lives and then lose crucial time in completion of formalities. In the absence of all facilities like Physiotherapy, concrete factors and other direly required facilities especially for disability, the patients are suffering badly. As per guidelines, patients direly need physiotherapy to get relief from pain, restore muscle power and control, restore range of joint movement and prevent further injury to a target joint. |
