Students of Government school forced to work as labourers
Principal, teachers least bothered about academics

JAMMU, Apr 27: The students of Government Higher Secondary School Ghou Manhasan of Marh block of Jammu district were forced to work as labourers in the ongoing construction work by the Principal during school hours .
The video of the incident went viral on social media which clearing shows that 60-70 students of 9th, 10th and 11th classes were forced to carry bricks and other building material at the entrance of the school where gate was being erected. Shockingly, while teacher stayed in the comfort of their rooms, students were forced to work in scorching sun and carry material from 200 meters of distance. As soon as the school opened, the students were asked to leave their classes and were instructed by the principal to go for labour work at the construction site and the malpractice has been taking place for the last three days.
"The Principal seems least bothered about study of the students and the teachers know very well that majority of the students belong to the poor families and nobody will object. It is very shocking that government provide funds to school management for building repairs, construction but by engaging students as laborers school management embezzle funds," one of the student informed Early Times.
Some students alleged that Principal of the school assumed stern and aggressive attitude towards students and always insulted them by saying that they were poor in their studies and hence they should do labour work. Instead of working on their studies by clearing their basics, the teachers indulge in scolding them due to which school witness poor result in board exams, they alleged.
