Clerical cadre of all departments continues pen down strike

JAMMU, Apr 27: The Jammu Kashmir Ladakh All Department Clerical Staff Coordination Committee (Jammu province) observed complete strike on 5th consecutive day today and held strong protest demonstration near Press Club, Jammu.
On 5th consecutive day of its pen down strike, the Clerical Cadre across the state observed complete Kam Choro Hartal on the call given by Coordination Committee Jammu Kashmir & Ladakh All Departments Clerical Staff Association. Meanwhile, the association has strongly condemned the "highhandedness of the police" on the peaceful protest of clerical cadre at Jammu.
A large number of employees of all the faction assembled at Press Club Jammu near Dogra Chowk and started protest demonstration. They were shouting slogans in support of their demands. They also raised slogans against the government for ignoring their issues despite recommendations of the Cabinet Sub Committee and High Court directives. They demanded that pay anomalies of the clerical cadre be removed.
The protesting clerical cadre started rally to gherao Civil Secretariat. A heavy police force was deployed to stop the employees. The clerical staff had crossed two barriers of police, however, they were stopped at Indira Chowk.
The clerical cadre employees alleged that the administration used repressive measures on their peaceful protest demonstration. They added that the clerical cadre was agitating in a democratic manner demanding the government to issue orders for removal of pay anomalies but the police arrested hundreds of clerical cadre employees.
