Early Times Report
BANIHAL, Apr 27: The construction work of Jammu-Srinagar National Highway's Ramban-Banihal four lane project is going on a slow pace due to the pending bill amount of sub-contractors engaged with the construction company in this stretch.
Sources said that despite funds have been released by the National Highway Authority of India to the Hindustan Construction Company (HCC), however, the company is yet to pay the pending amount against the bills submitted by the sub- contractors, who have been engaged by the construction company to execute the project work.
Ramban-Banihal National Highway Contractors Union during a meeting said that their bills worth crores of rupees are lying pending with the HCC.
They said that despite several requests the management of the company has failed to pay them their pending billing amount.
They said that about Rs 60 crores are due to the sub-contractors as they have completed their respective works.
The members of the union said that due to non-payment the sub-contractors are not able to pay the installments of their bank loans. They said that banks are now putting them in NPA list as defaulters.
The union demanded to release all the pending amount of the bills of work done by the sub-contractors up to March 31, 2018.
