Early Times Report
Srinagar, Apr 29: Kashmir, Apr 27: Terrorists on Sunday launched an attack on an Army party in South Kashmir's Shopian area. According to a news report, militants carried out the attack in Zainapora area of south Kashmir's Shopian district. No casualties have been reported so far in the incident.
Reportedly, militants fired upon Army's 34 Rashtriya Rifles party at Malikgund bus stop in Zainapora today morning. Militants were hiding in orchards when they first fired. The army personnel sitting in the vehicle retaliated which led to a brief exchange of firing.
Militants managed to flee from the area even after the army launched the cordon and search operations (CASO) in the area. The firing created panic among the locals of Shopian district.
"Few gunshots were heard in the area. We are in touch with locals to know what exactly has happened," superintendent of police (SP) Shopian Ambarkar Siriram Dinkar told Greater Kashmir.
Earlier on April 1, Jammu and Kashmir's Shopian and Anantnag districts witnessed fierce gunbattles wherein 11 terrorists and three jawans lost their lives. According to a news report, 2-3 militants were captured by the 34 Rashtriya Rifles (RR) of the army and Special Operations Group of Jammu and Kashmir in the Kachdoora area.
