'Act against separatists or face unrest'
Kashmir on Edge

Early Times Report
Jammu, Apr 29: Separatists and their henchmen have intensified their activities in Kashmir with the onset of summer season.
Sources told Early Times that the recent student protests which rocked Kashmir were orchestrated by the agents of separatists. "It has come to fore that these agents instigated the students to come out on the streets and provoke the security forces," they said, "Probably they wanted some killings to take place but security forces exercising restraint foiled their nefarious designs."
An official said that there are enough inputs to suggest that separatists and terrorists active in Kashmir can intensify their activities as soon as the Durbar reopens in the Valley.
It's in place to mention here that during the past few days Hurriyat hawk Syed Ali Shah Geelani, Hurriyat dove Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and so-called JKLF chief Yasin Malik have been issuing frequent protest calls.
Sources said that their bosses sitting across the Line of Control have asked them to pull out the people on streets and orchestrate stone-pelting. "Malik has once again been assigned the task of getting the traders and the transporters on board to ensure that the strike calls given by them evoke response," they said. "The strike calls not evoking much response has exposed the separatists. Now they are trying to intimidate the traders and others to fall in the line," they added.
A businessman wishing not to be named, fearing reprisal said, "The present regime is too soft towards the separatists. Geelani, Mirwaiz and Malik have been given a free run during the past three years and they have taken full advantage of it."
He said, "If the government wants peace to prevail then it should restrict their movement and stop being apologetic to them. If they are not reined in they can once again ruin yet another tourist season in the Valley."
A Kashmir watcher said that if government wants 2018 to pass off peacefully it has to act against the separatist trio first. "They cannot be allowed to call the shots and roam freely."
He said that during the past three years there has been a tremendous decline in the inflow of tourists to the Valley and this year seems no different. "It's an open secret that leaders of the Kashmir based ruling party are not allowing Jammu and Kashmir Police to operate freely. Whenever J&K Police acts against the separatists these politicians ensure that they (separatists) are treated as VIPs. This has encouraged the separatists and has allowed them to run a parallel system. One hopes that politicians learn from their mistakes and allow security agencies to work freely," the Kashmir watcher added.
