Early Times Report

JAMMU, Apr 29: BJP high command on Sunday decided  to replace the Deputy Chief Minister Dr Nirmal Singh.
Credible sources said that after hectic discussions among leaders of BJP and RSS, it was decided to replace Dr Singh with Speaker of the J&K Legislative Assembly Kavinder Gupta.
Sources said that after over three hours long meeting at Delhi, BJP high command directed Deputy Chief Minister to submit his resignation. Dr Singh reached Delhi this afternoon after being asked to reach union capital for discussions.
After calling, Dr Nirmal Singh, party high command asked Kavinder Gupta to reach Delhi also for very important discussions. “During the three meeting it was decided that both Dr Singh and Kavinder Gupta would swap their posts,” sources said.
They said that decision to replace Dr Singh was taken due to failure of the party ministers to take tough stand on controversial issues Rassana incident, decisions of Tribal Affairs Ministry and Rohingaya issues.
Credible sources further revealed that party high command has taken very serious note of the mishandling of Rassana issue which has snowballed into major controversy. This issue has triggered strong resentment among the BJP activists in Jammu region.
Credible sources said that party leadership is discussing names of  Rajiv Jasrotia, Shakti Parihar, D K Manyal and others for the ministerial berths but final decision would be taken late this evening.
Two ministers Bali Bhagat and Priya Sethi may also face the axe.
As reported earlier Governor Narendra Nath Vohra would administer the oath of office and secrecy to the newly inducted legislators in to Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) and Bharatiya Janta Party government in the state on Monday (April 30).
The venue of the oath ceremony would be the Convention Centre located on Canal Road in the winter capital of the state. The oath ceremony would start at noon. Due to the closure of the government offices at Jammu on account of Durbar Move the oath ceremony would be held at Convention Centre, Canal Road and not at Civil Secretariat.
In the PDP-BJP government the BJP has on date nine ministers with six ministers being cabinet ministers or full-fledged ministers with the remaining being ministers of state.
Among the ministers of state, Sunil Kumar Sharma holds the independent charge of transport while being MoS of other departments like Revenue, Public Works (Roads & Buildings), Rural Development & Panchayati Raj, Agriculture Production and Youth Services & Sports.
Following the resignation of Chaudhary Lal Singh and Chander Prakash Ganga from the council of ministers the number of BJP ministers has come down to nine from 11. While Lal Singh was the Minister for Forests, Ecology & Environment, Chander Prakash was the Minister for Industries & Commerce.
Both of them resigned following their participation in a rally organized by Hindu Ekta Manch in Kathua. All the departments and portfolios held by these ministers were allocated to Deputy Chief Minister, Nirmal Singh.
All the BJP ministers had resigned from the council of ministers to pave the way for cabinet reshuffle. Despite resignation of BJP ministers the state cabinet met last week and took some important decision including implementation of 7th Pay Commission for the government employees and pensioners of Jammu & Kashmir.
The three year old PDP-BJP state government has been rocked by some controversies and confusions. However, both the coalition partners have been able to swim with the tide and ensure that the opposition parties did not get any chance to form the government in the state.
