Injured man shifted with empty oxygen cylinder dies, family seeks action against erring health officials

Jammu, Apr 29: A middle aged man died due to negligence of on the part of the Udhampur Hospital, as the injured in road accident the victim shifted for advance treatment, and a an empty oxygen cylinder was provided his for oxygen.
According family members of the deceased, Sukhdev Singh, he met a road accident at Dhar Road on April 27, and rushed to District Hospital, Udhampur, for treatment. "After first aid, in the hospital, will tried to shifted him Narayana Hospital for advanced treatment", said Pritam Singh, brother-in-law of the deceased.
"But he succumbed on the way, as he was provided with empty oxygen cyclinder at Udhmpaur Hospital", he said.
Meanwhile, the Medical Superintendent, District Hospital, Dr Vijay Bansotra, while taking to media had confirmed the "cylinder was empty, when they returned, back hospital with body."
According to expert, "In case if just support, a cylinder provide oxygen for 48, hours, and in normal cases it takes 12-14 hours to get empty, but in case of critical condition of patients, it goes dry into 3 hours."
Surprisingly, but in this case it was less than an hour, a cylinder went dry. Pritam Singh, Teacher from Basantgarh, who himself, being victimized by Education department, since July 2017, said "I want justice for my sister and her two daughters one is seven years old and another is three years old", he said and added both girls unaware about misfortune they met, consigned flame to the pyre of their beloved farther.
When Contacted, Dr Kartar Chand Dogra, he expressed concerned over the incident and added the culprits would not be spared at any cost. "Same day, when the unfortunate incident took place, I formed three members committee to enquire the matter, the committee comprising Dy Chief Medical Officer, Senior Physician and Assistant Director Planning are aksed to submit enquiry report within a week", he added.
