Mahila Panthers hold protest against District Police Udhampur
4/29/2018 11:08:08 PM
Early Times Report

Udhampur, Apr 29: Accusing the Udhampur Police of shielding the BJP workers who assaulted her and her husband on 17th March at Kuh Nalah Udhampur, scores of Mahila Panthers activists spearheaded by Manju Singh Gen. Secretary JKNPP and spouse of Harsh Dev Singh Chairman JKNPP held a protest at exhibition ground in Jammu today.
The angry women protestors while seeking immediate arrest of all the perpetrators of heinous crime raised slogans 'Mehbooba tere raaj mein, mahilayon per hamley hote hain', 'BJP ke goondon ko giraftaar karo, giraftaar karo', 'SSP Udhampur murdabad'.
Lambasting the District Administration Udhampur for allowing open space to BJP goons in executing their nefarious designs, Manju Singh said that the local police had connived with these notorious elements to cause physical harm to her husband and NPP Chairman. Manju said that she and her husband were being repeatedly threatened on phone and social media by some criminals including some identified BJP men but the SSP Udhampur had refused to act against them on the directions of his political bosses despite several complaints lodged with him.
She said that not only were they physically assaulted last month by these BJP goons but filthy abuses and threats upon them including injuries on her person were dis-regarded by the police at the behest of SSP Udhampur who was acting as agent of some BJP Ministers and MLAs. And rather than booking the culprits, the SSP Udhampur had directed the registration of FIRs against her and her husband, revealed a dismayed Manju Singh.
The victims are being blamed and persecuted while the criminals absolved in Udhampur, said a visibly agitated Manju Singh. She said that the SSP Udhampur had resorted to repression and vengeance against Panthers Party leaders for raising their voice against the wrong doings of BJP leaders and was indulging in partisan politics to please his masters. Such intrusion into the political arena by Police officers constituted the most abominable act of misconduct and impropriety which called for due cognizance of the Chief Minister, she remarked.
Prominent among those who spoke on the occasion included Adv. Kesar Parveen, Pinki Raina, Jogita Sharma, Jyoti Devi, Kaushalya Devi, Uma Jamwal, Jeeto Devi, Neeraj Devi, Sakshi Sharma besides others.
