Early Times Report

Jammu, May 26: A top BJP leader and union minister on Saturday visited the border migrants' camp in Hiranagar. The visit however left the migrants disappointed as the minister heard them for just 15 minutes.
The migrants said they are not happy with such kind of high profile visits where a "minister speaks same words which he spoke four years ago to no avail."
The BJP minister accompanied by other top dignitaries visited Chaan Khatriya school where the Pakistani shelling victims are staying for last many days.
While interacting with the migrants, the minister told them that the government is with them and is giving befitting reply to Pakistani shelling. "Soon bunkers and land plots will be allotted to border people," he said.
His speech was interrupted by a woman who asked him why the Modi government was doing nothing for the border people. "When Pakistan violates the ceasefire in border areas, we are forced to shift to safer places. We are scared of bullets and mortar shells," the woman said.
"But Narendra Modi is hugging Pakistani leaders and even visited Pakistan. He has no idea about our sufferings.
Modiji is talking a lot, but on the ground he has not done much to stop Pakistan from making our lives a hell," she added.
After sensing the anger of the people, the minister left the camp within 15 minutes. The migrants also held a protest after he left and raised slogans against the BJP.
Ghanshyam Sharma, president Border Union Morcha, said the minister has no time to listen to the border migrants. He said the minister made the same promises to the people which he did last year' during his visit to the border areas.
"Our stand is very clear. We want the plight of border people to be addressed on priority basis. We cannot afford to leave our homes and fields off and on. It is not an issue about perks and incentives," Sharma added.
