All the over 1 lakh post-matric scholarships to students of one community
Discrimination of an extreme form with Jammu
5/27/2018 12:05:32 AM
Early Times Report
JAMMU, May 26: It may appear unbelievable and ridiculous, but it is a fact that the PDP-BJP coalition Government in Jammu & Kashmir has turned out to be a just one-community-centric dispensation and that the minority community (in this case internally-displaced Kashmiri Hindus and Hindus of Jammu) has no place whatsoever even in those departments of which the BJP is also a part.
The case in point is the distribution of post-metric scholarships not during the National Conference-Congress rule, but during the PDP-BJP rule in 2017. The PDP-BJP coalition Government assumed office on March 1, 2015 after the NC and the Congress lost the assembly polls very badly and the PDP emerged as the single largest party with 28 seats in the 87-member Jammu & Kashmir assembly and the BJP emerging as the second largest party winning 25 seats.
According to the revelations made on Friday evening, the PDP-BJP coalition government distributed "over 1 lakh Post-matric scholarship". What was the share of the students belonging to the majority community out of these over 1 lakh Post-matric scholarships? As per the said report, all the over 1 lakh went to the students of the majority community". As per the same report, "not one student belonging to the minority community got Post-matric scholarship".
As was expected, the BJP only beat about the bush as it had no word to defend the kind of discrimination the PDP-BJP coalition government perpetrated on the students belonging to the minority community. Not one post-Post-matric scholarship to a student belonging to the minority community could not be described as simple discrimination; it could be legitimately described as total exclusion of the minority community.
One can understand the Kashmir-based political party according a preferential and differential treatment to the members of one particular community, but one fails to understand why the Jammu-based BJP is ill-treating its own constituency? It's just beyond comprehension.
