Incumbent VC hopes against hope | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, May 27: As vice-chancellor aspirants in Jammu University are waiting for the University of Jammu to finalize the modalities to select the new vice-chancellor, the caretaker VC is trying his best to seek the blessings of his bosses to get a second term, sources told Early Times. They said that incumbent vice-chancellor in a meeting of senior professors recently revealed that none of the internal candidates of the university have applied till date. "How he is privy to such information is anybody's guess. The search process and institution of vice-chancellor is sacrosanct and shouldn't be trivialized by making such lose comments in formal official meetings that too by a sitting vice chancellor," a senior professor said. Another senior professor said it is unfortunate that V-C is making such comments in the presence of VC aspirants. "It clearly indicates that he is keeping tabs on the process perhaps he is trying his luck the second time as the age limit has been increased from 62 to 65," he added. It's in place to mention here that the first phase of search process ended on May 25. |
