Early Times Report
Udhampur, May 31: The illegal trade of bovine smuggling is flourishing under the nose of authorities.
Sources informed that every alternate day about 30-40 vehicles pass various police check points at Dhar Road and conventional Jammu-Srinagar National Highway to reach Kashmir. En-route many elements load cattle on these vehicles. Sources informed that many of these cattle are stolen or are stray animals picked up by these elements to earn money.
When contacted SSP Udhampur Raes Bhat informed that all the vehicles carrying cattle to Kashmir are checked properly and none is allowed to proceed without a valid permission by the DC concerned.
He also said that dedicated officers are deputed to check the social crime otherwise any one police officer or others found in this connection so I will take stric action against them and don't spare any condition who were found involved in bovine smuggling.
"This is really fishy," a social activist said. It is pertinent to mention here that these vehicles come from districts Jammu, Samba , Kathua and out of the state via Dhar Road or via Jammu-Srinagar National Highway and pass through Udhampur, Ramban etc to reach Kashmir. It is worthy to mention here that bovine smuggling is banned in Jammu and Kashmir State.
A politician said that the present regime of Bjp -pdp failed to control bovine smuggling in J&K "Why the government fails to control show the social crime," he said. He further said that many Rohingyas and Bangladeshis are illegally staying in our State and these people are being used to kill cattle.
He further said that the BJP led government has lost credibility as far as interests of Jammu region are concerned.
