Woman allegedly dies of over dose of anaesthesia in private clinic

Jammu, May 31 : Following death of a woman allegedly due to an overdose of anaesthesia in a private clinic today at Shalamar, family members and relatives of the deceased staged a protest demonstration against the doctor and the medical staff of the private clinic.
Sensing the gravity of the situation police took cognizance and arrested seven persons including two doctors including the owner of the private clinic and also sealed the said clinic.
Police have arrested seven person including two doctors while a board of doctors have also been constituted for post-mortem of the deceased lady.
Police identified the deceased woman as Praveen Kour (60) wife of Balbir Singh, resident of Nanak Nagar. She went to undergo a tonsillitis surgery at a private ENT clinic in Shalimar area.
Police sources quoting family members said that the woman collapsed in the operation theatre due to an alleged overdose of anaesthesia.
Irritated over the alleged negligence of doctors resulting death of their kin, the family and relatives staged protest against the doctor and the medical staff of the clinic.
Police sources said that accused have been identified namely as Dr Satesh Mehta of 108 Marble Enclave Trikuta Nagar Jammu (owner), Dr Rajesh Mahajan of 172 Garden Avenue Talab Tillo, Amandeep Singh of Ajeet Nagar Satwari, Vipan Gill of 18 Christian Colony Jammu, Subash of 70/D Mahesh Pura Bakshi Nagar, Atul Sharma of C/2 ASCOMS Sidhra and Rohit Gupta of 30/c Gandhi Nagar.
As per official order issued by the Principal of Govt Medical College and Hospital (GMC&H) Jammu, in reference to the communication from the Additional District Magistrate Jammu vide 119-122/DMJ/ 2018/dtd 31/05/18 a Special Medical Board of doctors including Dr Jyoti Khanna, Department of Anaesthesia, Dr Parrnod Kalsotra, Department of ENT, Dr Satish Parihar, Department of Surgery, Dr Rupali Bargotra, Department of Pathology and Dr Vinka Maini, Department of Forensic Medicine has been constituted to conduct the post-mortem of Parveen Kour (60) of Nanak Nagar, Jammu.
The post-mortem of the deacsed was conducted today at 12:45 PM in the mortuary, GMC &H Jammu through Videography in presence of 1st class Executive Magistrate-Mohd Saleem, Naib Tehsildar Jammu Khass who has been deputed to remain present during the post-mortem to ascertain the facts behind the death of the deceased and submit their findings to the concerned quarter.
