6/1/2018 12:21:19 AM
Early Times Report
Jammu, May 31: Inputs about Jaish terrorists planning to carry out a major attack in Jammu region in the ongoing holy month of Ramadan has put the security agencies on high alert.
Sources said that inputs suggest that five JeM terrorists have managed to sneak into Jammu region, while more than 14 terrorists are waiting near the Line of Control to join the Border Action Team of Pakistan Army.
They said, "These five terrorists were spotted on May 24 near Sialkote in Shikarpur training camp. There is every possibility that they have crossed over to this side."
Sources revealed that security in the entire Jammu region has been beefed up and efforts are being put to thwart any such attempts by terrorists to vitiate peace. "After the terrorists attacked the Military Station at Sunjwa in Jammu outskirts since that extra precautionary measures have been put at place to ensure that terrorists don't succeed in their nefarious deigns," they added.
An official who wished not to be named said that since the day Centre has announced the ceasefire in Jammu and Kashmir terrorists are making full use of it. "We apprehend that terrorists active in the Valley too are eyeing in the Jammu region and they may also try to sneak into the winter capital," he added.
Insiders revealed that security agencies have already conveyed it to the Centre that ceasefire needs to be called off as terrorists have not responded and they are making desperate attempts to carry out a major strike. "Not many people were on board when the ceasefire was announced. It was literally imposed on the security forces," they added.
A source said that Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh is likely to visit Kashmir in the coming week to review the security situation in the state post Ramadan ceasefire. "Singh has been informed that terrorists have intensified their activities in the Valley and are now eyeing Jammu. If the operations against terrorists remain suspended for longtime in the Valley there is every possibility about its ripple effects being felt in Jammu region also," the source added.
A politician said that the Government of India should reconsider its decision to carry on with the unilateral ceasefire, which has been torn apart by the terrorists. "One hopes that GoI wakes up before terrorists strike in Jammu and inflict losses. Reports about terrorists having infiltrated into Jammu region have been making rounds for the past 20-days. Police have not been able to trace the culprits who hurled a grenade at busy Jammu bus stand earlier this month," he added.
