Early Times Report
Jammu, May 31: Vigilance Organization (VO) Jammu booked a dental surgeon for indulging in corrupt and dubious activities.
Spokesman of Vigilance Organization said that a secret verification was conducted by the Vigilance Organization, Jammu on the basis of a complaint lodged by Dr. Shafqat Javed, Medical Officer PHC Chatroo, Kishtwar wherein it was alleged that while being posted as BMO Paddar, District Kishtwar in the year 2016, he came to be suspended pending enquiry but even after the lapse of two months no enquiry was ordered because of which he was suffering from mental agony. "During those days he met one Dr. Liaqat Ali Khan who convinced and assured him that his case would be cleared with his posting as BMO Bhaderwah for which he shall have to pay Rs. 5.00 lakhs to him", said spokesman of vigilance organization quoting the complaint .
He further added that the complainant, under the forced circumstances transferred the money amounting to Rs. 5.00 lakhs from his bank account to the account of Dr. Liaqat Ali Khan. But even after taking the money Dr. Liaqat Ali Khan did nothing and after some time vanished in thin air. The complainant faced the enquiry as per the routine procedure and after being exonerated was posted as Medical officer (MO) PHC Chatroo, Kishtwar whereas, Dr. Liaqat Ali Khan, who was posted in accidental hospital Vijaypur, Jammu was attached with Director Health Services, Jammu.
"During the course of secret verification and the discreet enquiries conducted on the allegations, it surfaced that the complainant remained very tense because of his suspension and discussed the issue with his relative Dr. Mushtaq Ahmed, then BMO Assar, Doda who advised him to approach Dr. Liaqat Ali Khan, Dental Surgeon for settlement of his suspension case as Dr. Liaqat Ali Khan was stated to be having good contacts with the higher ups in the department", said spokesman of Vigilance organization.
He added that on contacting Dr. Liaqat Ali Khan, the complainant was told to pay Rs. 5.00 lakhs for settling his suspension and his posting as BMO Bhaderwah, which, under the compelling circumstances, were transferred by the complainant from his A/c maintained in J&K Bank branch Bhaderwah on 20.09.2016 through cheque in A/c of the accused Dr. Liaqat Ali Khan, maintained in J&K Bank branch Bhatindi, Jammu, but despite taking the money intentionally as illegal gratification and spending the same on his personal affairs and making online purchases etc the accused didn't extended any help to the complainant.
Spokesman further maintained that it has also been found that the accused Dr. Liaqat Ali Khan carries a reputation of indulging in corrupt practices by managing transfers of officials after obtaining handsome amounts from them, by sheer abuse and misuse of his official position, as a public servant.
The commission of the acts by Dr. Liaqat Ali Khan, Dental Surgeon, of Gandoh Bhalessa presently staying at Bhatindi near Makkah Masjid, Jammu constituted offences U/s 5(1) (d) punishable u/s 5(2) J&K PC Act, Svt. 2006. Accordingly, a formal case was registered under the aforesaid sections of law at Police Station Vigilance Organization Jammu for investigation, during the course of which, after obtaining search warrant from the court of Ld. Special Judge Anti-Corruption, Jammu searches were conducted at the Bhatindi residence of the accused doctor, who was also contacted to remain present but he deliberately remained elusive and at large.
