Dr Manohar presents memorandum to PHE Minister

Jammu, June 5: Former Minister and Senior Congress leader Dr Manohar Lal Sharma today met Sham Lal Choudhary Minister PHE, Irrigation and Flood control and presented a memorandum apprising him of the current state of water crisis being faced by people of Billawar constituency and adjoining areas of district Kathua.
Dr Sharma while meeting addressed that the inhabitants of Billawar constituency are facing acute shortage of portable and drinking water in this dry spell of summers. He said that Billawar constituency is hilly and kandi belt area which receives water through seasonal rainfall and underground water. Due to seasonal variation and dry summers the inhabitants are facing the wrath of water shortage.
He pointed that In the past too, such acute shortage situations had occurred and then timely intervention of the PHE department had defused the same effectively as PHE is one of the essential services . Almost whole constituency is currently facing acute shortage of water including Bhaddu, Dharmakote, Morheen, ward no 3 and 4 in Municipal Committee Billawar, Reya Tandi, Baktpur, Kohag Lahri and Nojot, Dher, Kandharnu, Uchapind, Tharakalwal, Bhed Dollan, Rajwalta, Mallad and Dhanjastra, Baggan,Mela Dinga Amb Panchayat, Kati dhod ladoli, Mangllor, Badholi, Pargoli & Sunkhal.
In memorandum he put forth some recommendation including channelizing the periodic supply of drinking water through PHE water tanks to the areas on routine basis, Regular supply of tap water to all the areas of Billawar constituency etc.
