10 days police remand in Nagrota attack case

Jammu, June 5: In a much publicized terror attack at Nagrota in the month of November 2016 in which seven soldiers, including two officers were martyred, Special Judge NIA Haq Nawaz Zargar today granted 10 days police remand of Mohd Ashiq Baba, S/o Ghulam Mohd Baba, R/o Shajroo Mahore, District Reasi.
The application was filed by the CIO through SPP, for change of custody and police remand for a period of 10 days of accused Mohd Ashiq Baba, S/o Ghulam Mohd Baba, R/o Shajroo Mahore, District Reasi, who has been produced by ASI Ravi Ji, No. 540/S of DPL, Srinagar from Central Jail Srinagar in compliance to the production warrant issued by this court on 02.06.2018, inter alia on the grounds that the accused is required to be interrogated in the above noted case to unearth the larger conspiracy of terrorist attack committed on 29.11.2016 on Officers Mess Complex 166 Medium Regiment at Nagrota, wherein several army personnels were martyred leaving many others seriously injured.
Special Judge NIA Haq Nawaz Zargar observed that the custodial interrogation of the accused is required in the interest of the investigation of the case, which is of serious nature and allowed the application and custody of accused and remanded him to police custody for a period of three days.
