Early Times Report
Kishtwar, June 5: The public protest in Kishtwar town and its adjoining areas continue to witness protest over worsening water crisis.
As per the details available with Early Times, the people of Guriyan and its adjoining areas of Kishtwar town today held a strong protest against non-availability of the water for several days. Angry people raised the slogans against PHE Department, administration and MLA Kishtwar for their failure in providing drinking water to the people even during the holy month of Ramazan.
The protestors demanded immediate removal of illegal hooking from the gravity line and threatened to intensify the protest.
Soon after the protest, senior officials of the PHE department rushed to the spot and tried to pacify the protesters. On the assurance of the senior officials, they called off the protest.
Following protests, MLA Kishtwar who is also Power Minister held a review meeting of PHE Kishtwar via Video-Conferencing and ordered for special teams to be constituted for proper distribution of water.
He acted tough to the situations after the people staged protest against PHE department for irregular water supply.
Minister while acting tough directed the concerned authorities including Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar to regularize the distribution of water in and around the town for which a concrete plan and distribution roaster should be maintained and followed on daily basis. He also directed to constitute special Teams for proper distribution in the Town and Mandal area so as to fix responsibilities on the lower staff for any kind of negligence.
"Enough is enough now, you have to pull your socks and perform your duties on ground --- any negligence or non-seriousness will be viewed seriously and will invite strong action against the officer/official concerned," he added".
He also directed DC Kishtwar to supervise the whole process of distribution and sought Action Taken report within week's time.
