| The choice of BJP to withdraw support can be termed somehow as a conscious decision but it cannot compensate the collateral damage, widened gap betwixt the state regions, irreparable loss caused to future generations, by its erroneous decision for power lust of allying with PDP, a pro- separatist party. The party in power with Mehbooba since April 2016, finding itself bombarded from all corners for its appeasement of pro-separatist and ever worst decisions for J&K that carried the state even to worst situation than of 1990, left it with no option except to pull out from alliance to save its face but this choice of BJP is not going to improve the image of it across the nation and especially in J&K. All unthought-of Modi claims to normalize valley unrest by its experimental policies and his words of election campaign and thereafter have given impression of a person of 'great boast little roast'. The period of alliance will be written in bold letters in history pages as darkest days in J&K with the blessings of BJP dispensation and ever weak and visionless PM regarding his delivery in respect of J&K.
The choice of BJP to withdraw support required to be balanced for its own role in the government for the last three plus years that tilt towards pro-separatist, appeasement of anti-nationals and as stooges of PDP. I like to mention of some of my articles published in 2016 such as; 'Is BJP still relevant in J&K', 'Half mind going the wrong way', 'J&K spoiled by politicians', BJP distanced in J&K, struggling for recurrence'. These scripts were projections of BJP's wrong policies towards J&K. The more relevant scripts of 2017 fully versioned and analyzed by me now certified by the decision of BJP are; 'Coalition - a cactus under BJP canopy' and 'Is Modi government a stumbling block in imposition of Governor rule in J&K?. This mind set of BJP isolated this party from the platter of Jammu region and it has slipped to a non rescue able position. Many wrong decisions followed by first wrong decision of forming government with PDP, such as; shelving Jammuites into oblivion, u-turn from its commitments, being blind towards provisions documented in much talked as 'Agenda of Alliance' in respect of Jammu region, setting thousands criminals (stone pelters) free, accommodating this fraternity in government jobs, and putting the forces in shackles by one sided cease fire, remained as appeasing to PDP. All these visionless decisions that came from the 'Modi Sarkar' were debated across the nation and outcome diminished the image of BJP all over with one question, why Modi has fully surrendered to PDP? The latest decision of one sided cease fire during 'Ramadan', was debated and commented by one and all across cross section of society and even within forces as ever worst decision of 'Modi Sarkar' that gave cooling time to militants, terrorists, and pro-separatists to expand their bases, free hand for consolidating their rank and file, butchers danced like 'Marityu Doot' and created hell by killing number of persons in uniform, civilians and journalists. The resumption of operations subsequently authenticated the earlier decision as wrong. The withdrawal of support by BJP is a political move to go for cosmetic surgery of its damaged image and also trickery to 2019 elections as Kashmir unrest has dented the image of BJP across the nation.
Let us analyze after the decision of withdrawal of support, which party i.e. BJP or PDP is at receiving end. To arrive at we have to look for the reasons projected by BJP compelling for withdrawal of support. The Ram Madhav has cited such reasons as; fundamental rights of people including right to life and free speech in Kashmir are under threat. Even press freedom and freedom of speech is at risk. PDP failing to improve the security conditions in the Kashmir Valley. Terrorism, violence and radicalism have risen. PDP has not been successful in fulfilling its promises. Our leaders have been facing a lot of difficulties from PDP in development works in Jammu. Jammu and Kashmir is an integral part of India and in order to control the prevailing situation in the state, we have decided that the reins of power in the state be handed over to the governor. By projection of these reasons, the BJP has tried again to befool the people by giving an impression of itself as nowhere connected for all these treacheries. Being equal in ministries in government and a party to all these accusations, here it is projecting itself as an ignorant and innocent. But in actuality it is the BJP led government by Mr. Modi, depending on his lieutenants such as Ram Madhav, Dineshwar Mishra and advisors on J&K, has given green signal to PDP to proceed in policies that now appear to be responsible for the reasons cited above for withdrawal of support. It is admitted reality that BJP ministers in the alliance were just puppets and were working under the thumb of Mehbooba Mufti. The BJP ministers as well as party MLAs by taking Jammuites for granted were acting as stooges of PDP and were just amassing wealth by running transfer industries through their agents and relatives fully patronized by BJP think tank. At the cost of Jammuites they were just implementing agenda of PDP in valley and pushing the Jammu region to a tight corner. This all was happening for power lust. Finding itself neck deep into the sordid affair and realizing its total rejection in coming elections, it has moved a political decision of withdrawal of support that is going to prove as last nail in their coffin hammered by itself with the deceptive hope of its revival in Jammu region. Here very cunningly Ram Madhav has tried to project BJP as sympathizer of Jammu for its platform in Jammu by projecting one reason as "our leaders have been facing a lot of difficulties from PDP in development works in Jammu" whereas the BJP has voluntarily avoided Jammu for development.
A careful analysis of PDP conclude that during the period it remained on musical chair, it has fully utilized the period and space to fill in with its agenda towards pro-separatists and appeasement. Its achievements claimed by Mehbooba in her press conference such as; it has managed the release of eleven thousand stone pelters, its policies forced Modi to visit Pakistan for amicability, it was instrumental in declaring unilateral ceasefire, it never allowed BJP to talk of scrapping article 370 (ever political aspiration of BJP) as it pursued its agenda and defended the special status of the state by defending article 35A and 370 are claims that have downgraded the BJP as mute spectator. In a political trickery Mehbooba has warned BJP that muscular policy cannot work in Jammu and Kashmir.
Concluding, this was an unholy alliance and it was expected to break from day one. Both BJP and PDP had betrayed the people of the state and supporters of the respective parties. They sought votes on opposing agendas and thereafter went for a honeymoon and unhappy conflicts brought a divorce for them. The situation in Jammu & Kashmir has deteriorated completely in the past three years due to naked opportunism and greed for power displayed by the BJP that was instrumental for all absurdities by Mehbooba. But BJP cannot absolve itself of supporting all bad decisions taken by Mehbooba. The dent created over the time in J&K especially by both alliance partners in Jammu region by widening the gap betwixt Jammu and Kashmir region will hardly be bridged by the left over time of BJP rule in the center. On the other hand the helplessness of Modi government in curtailing the militancy and unrest in valley speaks of the failure of visionless policies of Modi government directed towards J&K. Smelling tough time ahead because of 'Amarnath Yatra', total black out for it in J&K, the inefficient lot of MLAs from its party, above all dented image that will surely effect MP and Rajasthan elections in near future, the BJP has run away from the front scene and it expect to carry its nefarious designs indirectly through Governor rule. The breakdown of alliance was required much earlier. The Governor Rule will definitely improve the situation but at the same time Governor Rule is not a substitute for people's government. This aspect also require due attention and consideration by Modi government, who has proved his least concern for the suffering people of J&K. End up with the concern and hope that HE the Governor has now to deliver for the peoples welfare in most visionary and efficient way and we hope that he will not tread the path like that of Governor in Karnataka for his continuation on gubernatorial post. |
