Early Times Report

JAMMU, June 29: "Sab Kuchh Loota Ke Hosh Mein Aaye To Kya Kiya," this famous song from an old Hindi film aptly depicts the state of affairs of the Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) in Jammu and Kashmir as the saffron party after losing power in the state has suddenly woken up from its deep slumber.
The BJP, which completely dumped its core constituencies of Jammu and Ladakh regions of the state while enjoying the luxuries of power for more than three years though its national president Amit Shah while addressing a rally here on June 23 gave the narrative that Jammu and Ladakh were discriminated by the previous government and this was the reason that they decided to pull out of the coalition with the People's Democratic Party (PDP).
However, it seems that Amit Shah had completely forgotten that the BJP was very much part of the previous state government and the post of Deputy Chief Minister was held by it.
Inspired by the 'discrimination' excuse given by their chief, the state BJP's leadership has again made a U-turn to enact its old role of championing the cause of Jammu and Ladakh as senior leaders of the party held a meeting with the Governor at Srinagar yesterday and persuaded him to fast track various developmental works in the state funded by the central government.
"BJP ministers and MLAs did not resent against the alleged discrimination with Jammu and Ladakh by PDP as claimed now by its top leadership.
They hardly put any pressure and failed to keep a watchful eye to take corrective measures in fast tracking the development activities going on in Jammu as well as Ladakh despite an equal component of the power in the state" said a local in Jammu.
BJP MLAs and ministers did not make serious efforts to ensure fast track development in Jammu and Ladakh regions during the period when it was in power in the state but it is quite farcical that they are now knocking the doors of Raj Bhavan with a request to get the works completed as early as possible.
Now after demitting office, the BJP is trying to hoodwink the people of Jammu to hide their failure and incapability to handle power in an effective manner.
BJP has miserably failed to come up to the expectations of Jammuites, who extended a massive support to the saffron party in the last Parliamentary as well as Assembly polls.
It remains to be seen that the melodrama being enacted by the BJP bears how much fruits for it in regaining its lost ground in Jammu region.
