Khelo India was 'Luto India' for this Mama-Bhanja!
Where did money go? Ask officials, seek probe

Early Times Report
srinagar, June 29: Amid allegations of large-scale bungling of the funds, the central government's flagship program -the Khelo India is being criticized as "Luto India", whereby some influential persons faces close to the previous Peoples Democratic Party led regime have been accused of minting fortunes out of the funding meant for sporting activities.
Official sources said in one such case, a youth PDP leader, who was holding a key post in the Sports Council gave Rs 20 lakh to Pulwama degree college that was actually headed by his maternal uncle or Mamaji.
Sources said the funds were allocated in 2016 when the situation in Kashmir was edgy amid protests against the killing of militant commander Burhan Muzaffar Wani and his two aides.
Officials, on the other hand, have raised questions as to why such big funds were given only to one degree college. "Every district in Jammu and Kashmir has a degree college, so how come big money was given to Degree College Pulwama alone. The prima facie of this undue favor is enough to suggest that the money has been swindled by Mama Ji and Bhanja Ji?" said a senior official in the civil Secretariat.
The students of the degree college Pulwama have been complaining that the money wasn't spent on sporting activities as no such events were held. "This college was mainly resorting to protests due to the maladministration by the then Principal, so where has the money gone beyond their own personal coffers," the students said.
Talking to Early Times a senior official in the Sports Council said this complaint was "just tip of the iceberg." "We are receiving numerous complaints whereby millions have been swindled by a few faces from the PDP and their aides. There has been a gross swindling of funds and this is something which the Central government must probe," the official said.
Meanwhile for the past few days, sportsmen have been frequently staging protests at press enclave Srinagar over "gross swindling of funds", given by New Delhi under the Khelo India program.
"Modi Ji must get probed how Khelo India became Luto India," the protesters said.
