Newly constructed Suchetgarh veterinary dispensary remains defunct | | | Early Times Report Jammu, July 10: Despite huge funding on part of successive governments to establish veterinary dispensaries in villages, most of these dispensaries have turned out to be sheer waste. Locals informed Early Times that a veterinary dispensary was announced for border village Suchetgarh years back but the department concerned failed to complete it in stipulated time. "Now the department has completed the construction work but no manpower has been deputed there, leaving the newly constructed building useless for villagers", said locals. Sources said that two post, one each of doctor and pharmacist were sanctioned for the dispensaries but nothing has been done so far to provide manpower. "Owing to inordinate delay to complete the building the then minister of Animal and Sheep Husbandry, Nazir Ahmed Khan Gurazi asked the department officials to complete the building as soon as possible, so that people of adjoining villages got the benefit but after lapse of couple of years, the department failed to provide manpower", said villager Hukam Chand. They further alleged that the lackadaisical approach of department toward rural people can be gauged from this fact that the services like vaccination, artificial insemination etc were not available to the cattle, and as a result, the people of locality had go to R S Pura veterinary hospital to avail the same facilities. |
