Sunderbani, July 10: Another misuse and misappropriation of funds has been unearthed in tehsil Sunderbani in Rural Development Department where an MLC fund released to the tune of Rs 2 lakh for various works has been siphoned off without the ground work being executed.
In 2011-12, MLC Ravinder Sharma released Rs 2 lakh to the department for two works to be taken up. One was for ground leveling of a High School, Barnara at Nala Makol and the other for constructing a pond nearby.
But to the agony of the people and the ironical attitude of the department, both works remained unattended. Rs one lac was sanctioned for ground leveling of the school and a similar amount was released for construction of pond which were manipulatively hijacked by the concerned junior engineer in connivance with the Block Development Officer as well as the village level workers (VLWs).
People allege that not a single work was executed at both the sites, despite Rs 2 Lakh released as MLC fund by Ravinder Sharma.
The RDD is also silent on the issue of non-performance of the department without giving any reason sa to why the works could not be executed.
Already the high-handedness of the RDD has been reported often where the Director RDD has been accused of holding his fiefdom and running the department in connivance with the officials with the concerned JE as well as BDO party to all illegal activities being executed by the department .
The people also allege that despite having the records, details and the information about the illegal activities of the department, why the vigilance department is mum and not initiating any action against the misdeeds of RDD.
The people have appealed to the Governor N N Vohra to take cognizance of the matter and constitute a strong vigilance team so that RDD could be scanned and all skeletons in the cupboard be tumbled out. |
