SKIMS mulling to make 'faulty' faculty selection list public

Early Times Report
Anantnag, July 10: The authorities at Sher-I-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences Soura (SKIMS) are mulling to make 'faulty' selection list of faculty members public for which the interviews were held last year.
Well placed sources revealed to Early Times that incumbent Director SKIMS has almost completed the process and list of candidates will be made public any time soon despite that fact that a senior member of the Governing body had raised objections and conveyed to government about the fraud and irregularities committed during the selection process.
"The basic rules of interviews were violated openly to adjust some nine people," sources revealed.
They said that a senior member, who was later thrown out for raising objections, had conveyed his concerns to then Chief Minister and Chief Secretary but it didn't made any impact.
The source said that the expelled doctors and other members of apical selection committee were shocked to find that the entire process-from marks distribution to publications-had been changed by the SKIMS administration without compulsory concurrence from the governing body.
"Some members of the apical selection committee were asked to sign the Xerox copies signed by Chief Minister and Chief Secretary," they claimed.
Sources claimed that once then Chief Secretary had suggested the 'case of fraud' be given to Crime Branch for initiating criminal proceeding against those involved in it.
They claimed that process of selection was done on the instruction of USA based doctor. "He had already planted two of his friends Prof K Alam and Prof Altaf Ramzan in Apical Selection Committee for back door selections," they added.
"Even then Chief Secretary B B Vyas stopped chairing the process many times because of their massive interference and from Screening to choosing expert was decided by them and then they were in Apical Selection committee as members," they claimed.
Sources say Vice Chairman Apical Selection Committee Prof M S Khuroo raised it time and again and updated Govt and he was silenced by throwing him out from both Governing Body and Apical Selection Committee.
A senior doctor said that now onus lies with Governor NN Vohra to restore glory of this prestigious institution by taking necessary actions against this mafia.
The doctor said the need of the hour was to take corrective measures to restore the credibility of this Institution by reinstating Prof Ahangar as Director, re-nominating Prof Khuroo as Governing Body and Apical selection committee member, re-constituting both Governing Body and Apical selection committee by nominating well renowned experts in the field from all over India and reviewing the recent victimization against four doctors before making the list public.
