Mehbooba throws 'tantrums' again
7/21/2018 11:05:48 PM
Early Times Report

Jammu, July 21: Gauging that her party is at the verge of getting split, President of Peoples Democratic Party and former Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti on Saturday stirred the Hornet's nest once again by claiming that her legislators are being coerced to leave the party with threats of NIA raids.
"I'm not saying that New Delhi is doing it but I did talk to some people in New Delhi and told them that a perception is being created through media reports that MLAs can be bought with money or be motivated to leave the PDP for important cabinet portfolios, and if they're rejecting even this, they're being threatened with NIA raids," Mehbooba Mufti was quoted as having said by News18.
An analyst while talking to Early Times said, "It seems Mehbooba Mufti has realized that her efforts to bring the rebels back are not going to work. First she threatened that more Yasin Maliks and Salahuddins will be born if her party doesn't remain intact. Now she is invoking NIA. It's strange," he said.
"Mehbooba Mufti has failed to keep her house in order. Now she is trying to shift the blame on others. Already a sedition case has been filed against her in the Ambala court for threatening the country and asking militants to take control. Now she has stirred yet another row by alleging that her party legislators are being coerced. It seems she has forgotten that she ruled J&K till last month and the actions which were carried out by the NIA in J&K had her approval," the analyst added.
A politician said that her party leaders have become restless and want to be in the power again. "Mehbooba is finding it hard to believe that the MLAs, whom she had no time to meet during her tenure, have decided to leave her alone and go ahead with their plans," the politician added.
He said, "NIA is an anti-terror agency. It has got nothing to do with politics. If any of the PDP MLAs are involved in terrorism related cases then they should be ready to face the law. If they are clean then they have nothing to worry about."
A Kashmir watcher said that Mehbooba should stop throwing "tantrums" and see the writing on the wall. "Her own party men seem to have decided to call it quits, Neither New Delhi nor NIA has got any role to play in it. She promoting family raaj has disintegrated her party and now she is trying to control the damage," he added.
