Early Times Report
SRINAGAR, July 22: The hard struggle put in by pharmacists with regards to issuance of formal orders of their time bound promotion seems to have paid off as the people at helm have said that orders in this regard would be issued within a short span of time.
The assurance was given by Director General Health Services, Dr. Saleem-ur-Rahman during a meeting with a delegation of Jammu & Kashmir Government Pharmacists Association (JKGPA). During the meeting the long pending demands of government pharmacists came up for discussion.
"The Director General Health Services listened to our demands very patiently and he in fact issued some orders. It was communicated by him that formal orders with regard to time bound promotion of the pharmacists would be issued within a short span of time most probably in a week's time," said Sheikh Mehraj-ud-din, State President JKGPA while talking to Early Times.
Mehraj said that orders with respect to holding of departmental promotion committee (DPC) meeting for pending cases of promotions of pharmacists any time between August 27 and 29 were also issued on spot by Director General Health Services. He said that DPC is pending for a long time and hopefully the issue would be resolved soon.
"During the meeting it was decided that drawing and disbursing officers would be asked to submit details to Directorate with respect to pay anomaly of the junior pharmacists and senior pharmacists in the department. Once it is done then the same would be forwarded to the administrative department for necessary action," said State President JKGPA.
Mehraj said that on the issue of withholding of salary of employees working against identical posts especially for pharmacist it was decided that the issue would be dealt with at the Directorate level. He said that concerned quarters would be requested to take a lenient view so that the salary is released at the earliest.
"The Director General Health Services issued the orders of holding a meeting with Deputy Director Planning on August 5 so that the issues raised by Chief Secretary with regard to some demands of the pharmacists are discussed threadbare. More than four months have passed by in this regard and it is expected that this issue would be dealt with in the meeting fixed for August 5," said State President JKGPA.
Mehraj asked the pharmacists to work with dedication and zeal so that the patient care is not affected in any health institution of the state. He exuded confidence that the genuine demands of pharmacists would be fulfilled this time around.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Director Headquarters (Health Services) and Assistant Director (Health Services). Besides Mehraj, the JKGPA was represented by Abdul Ahad Qureshi, Bilal Ahmad Baigh and Mohammad Ilyas Ganie.
