Cutting of GST rates further on 88 items will benefit people: SS Sodhi

Jammu, July 24: S. S. Sodhi Chairman J&K Intellectual Civil Society, New Delhi held a meeting with all the members of the civil society and appreciated the Prime Minister of India for cutting of GST rates on 88 items. The steps taken by him regarding reforming the GST rules for the benefit of the general public will go a long way to help particularly the middle and lower class people of the society.
In this connection, it is also worth mentioning that the rates on foot wears, refrigerators, washing machines, small screen Tvs, cosmetics, perfumes, toiletries, hair dryers, mixer grinders, vacuum cleaner, lithium ion batteries have been lowered from 28% to 18%. Sanitary Napkins which were attracting 12% GST and fortified milk on which GST was being charged @ 18% have been exempted from the levy (GST). The rationalization of rates on hotel accommodation and on supply of e-Books has also been appreciated. The Chairman, J&KICS, New Delhi also appreciated that GST council has been asked to rise above revenue consideration and focus more on job creation for the young generation and economic growth of the country.
All the members of the civil society thanked the chairman for bringing awareness among them about the various rates on GST which are beneficial for all especially middle class and lower class people. They also appreciated the steps taken by the Prime Minister of India by taking personal interest in the above said matter.
