Early Times Report

Anantnag, July 24: Threatening to lock donation boxes of Jammu and Kashmir Muslim Wakf Board, Ummat-e-Islami Chief Qazi Yasir Tuesday demanded audit of Board properties.
Adressing a press conference in Anantnag today, Qazi Yasir alleged that some persons were opening donation boxes at their will and even Wakf Board members were giving huge loans worth lakhs and crores to their relatives illegally.
"This is a big issue. We have decided to start a movement from the Shrine of Hazrat Reshi Shab Anantnag. We want Wakf board to unlock the donations boxes in front of respectable citizens of Anantnag town and ensure the counting of money under camera," he said.
He said that donations collected from different shrines be audited and expenditure of amount be made public every month.
"There are some other religious issues which we need to keep in mind while spending the amount Wakf board collects from shrines," he said, adding board can't use the donation money to give slarly to its employees.
"This money can't be used for political causes," he added.
Qazi Yasir said that if Jammu and Kashmir Muslim Wakf Board failed to deliver up to the expectations of people, his organization Ummat-e-Islami will lock all the donation boxes of board at shrines.
The day pulled out from the coalition government, Jammu and Kashmir Muslim Wakf Board like other institutions is hogging headlines but for bad reasons.
The board was in the news earlier after it surfaced that Wakf Board has illegally transferred prized property to the daughter of MLA Dooru-Anantnag, Syed Farooq Indarbi.
Set No 5 and 6 having 6 beds and 2 kitchens and two washrooms at Gupkar Wakf complex were allotted to MLA's daughter on 23-06-18 in contravention of the Muslim specified Wakf and specified Wakf Act 2004/2005 and Judgments of Division Bench of High Court, however later the Board on the directions of Governor N N vohra cancelled the allotment.
People also started raising questions over the functioning of board after Shri Mata Vaishno Devi successfully inaugurated Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Narayana Superspeciality Hospital.
