Rajouri, July 24: Encroachments in Rajouri district continue unabated and even some police official are involved in the illegal activity.
For example, at Taryath, near river Shiv Khori, the land mafia is unabatedly encroaching the land and coming up with concrete structure at various khasras under the very nose of the administration.
But the irony is that none of the administrative check is being done on the area which is fast losing the government land into the hands of the land mafia.
Interestingly, not only the influential ones are encroaching on the river beds, but the police officials are equally involved in the illegal activity as many police officials have constructed houses on the rocky bed of the river.
Recently, a Deputy Superintendent of police official at Rajouri was dragged into the Vigilance net for having constructed an illegal house on the river bed. But people allege that the DSP in question is not the only official involved in land grabbing as many senior police officials have constructed illegal houses in the vicinity.
The various khasras where the land mafia is quite active at Taryath in river Shiv Khori ,are Khasra numbers: 807, 945, 943, 951/1, and 643.
The people of the area have appealed Governor N N Vohra to take personnel interest in Rajouri where besides forest encroachments and felling of the green gold is going on unabated , the land mafia active. |
