Katra Admin goes tough against encroachers

KATRA, July 25: In a major initiative, a joint anti-encroachment drive involving the officers from Municipal Committee Katra, Katra Development Authority, PWD with the active assistance of Katra Police was launched in Katra.
During the drive, various illegal structures raised by shop owners like extended roofs, counters, extended illegal structures, sign boards raised on the alignment of road were removed by the team. As many as, 25 illegal structures like stairs, extensions, roof and annexes encroaching upon road and several shops were dismantled.
More than 5 JCBs, 10 Load Carriers along with sufficient staff of Municipal Committee, Katra were pressed into service to remove the encroachments.
During the drive, the locals demanded that such type of drives should be in conducted frequently in the town so as to decongest the Main Bazaar, Katra, Ban-Ganga Road, Jammu Road, Railway Road and Niharika Bus Stand.
Sub Divisional Magistrate, Katra asked the people to remove any temporary and permanent encroachments failing which strict action shall follow.
Among others, Chief Executive officer, Katra Development Authority, Dr Jagdish Mehra and Chief Executive Officer, Municipal Committee, Katra, Mr. K. K. Chalotra were also present during the drive.
