Early Times Report
Jammu, July 25: Ever since the Government of India has refused to provide funds for clearing land acquisition cases in Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojna (PMGSY) to the State, the various projects under this scheme have come to grinding halt and if situation remained the same, then this centrally sponsored scheme face a certain closure in the State.
Sources told Early Times that earlier the State Government used to get fund for clearing land acquisition cases for constructing roads under PMGSY but suddenly the Centre Government has denied the financial assistance. "In its communiqué, the Centre Government informed the State Government that there is no guideline under this scheme of providing funds for clearing land cases as it is the State Government who has to provide land for execution of any centre sponsored scheme that is why funds can't be provided under any circumstances," they said.
They further informed that Centre Government had provided funds to State under this scheme till Phase IX additionally for clearing land acquisition cases but for the new projects of Phase X & XI, no funds has been received due to which projects could not be started.
Sources further maintained that for executing road projects for Phase 11 around Rs 1200 crore and for Phase 10, Rs 800 Cr are needed for land and forest compensation which has become headache for State Government and is likely to dent implementation of the scheme.
