Director Agriculture stresses on diversified farming

Jammu, July 25 : Director Agriculture Jammu Hari Krishan Razdan, accompanied by Director Command Area Development, S. Jantinder Singh, visited the farmers' fields at Jakh, Sarore and other areas of Samba District to monitor the progress of various Farmers' welfare schemes and programmes.
Both Directors jointly inaugurated the Milky Mushroom Cultivation Unit at Mushroom Demonstration and Training Centre at Rakh Dhiansar.
Interacting with the farmers at Rakh Dhiansar, Director Agriculture said that the cultivation of Milky mushroom has been introduced for the first time in Samba District to fill the gap between the Button and Dhingri Mushroom crops to achieve round the year production of mushrooms. He asked them to diversify their farming through apiculture, mushroom, seed production, vegetable cultivation and adoption of Good Agricultural Practices (GAPs) to achieve the goal of doubling the farmer's income by 2022.
Director Command Area Development, S. Jantinder Singh on the occasion advised the farmers to adopt integrated farming approach and to gainfully utilize their lean time in alternative agri-enterprises. He asked the field functionaries of CAD to make all out efforts to transfer the various technological interventions from lab to land to improve their economic status.
Later on Director Agriculture reviewed the working of field staff of Samba Sub-Division. He directed the field functionaries to reach out to the farmers field to make them aware for various farmers welfare schemes like Soil Health Card Scheme (SCHS), Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFSBY), Kissan Credit Card Scheme (KCCS), National Mission on Agriculture Extension & Technology (NMAET-ATMA), Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayee Yojana (PMKSY) and to keep them updated with the latest guidelines and norms of various programmes.


He appreciated the efforts of the officers of Mushroom Training Centre Rakh Dhainsar for successfully introducing the cultivation of Milky Mushroom.

A. Bhat, District Agriculture Officer(Extension) CAD, Firdous Ahmed Tak, ASCO Sarore, J. C. Raina, AIO, Talik Raj Sharma, Sub Divisional Agriculture Officer, Samba, Anju Shalla, Apiculture Officer, Samba, Pardeep Kumar, AEO, Jakh and JAEOs and AEAs of the area.
