Buddhists hold protest against Kishtwar DDC for failing to provide chopper services

Kishtwar, July 25: The members of Buddhist community in Kishtwar today held a strong protest against the district administration for their failure in providing the chopper services to the Buddhist spiritual leaders including His Holiness the 12th Gyalwang Drukpa and expected to be the next Dalia Lama despite the fact that the community representatives had paid the chopper fair to private telecom service provider "Pawan Hans".
The angry protestors pelted stone on the SDM padder office and also pelted the stone on air strip and did not allow the chopper to land beside the angry protestors also held the DDC Kishtwar hostage for hours together inside the local "Alpine hut" before he was rescued by the police.
Speaking to "Early Times" the local demanded an apology from the DDC Kishtwar to Buddhist community of the world for their arrogant and unfortunate attitude of the district administration and police towards the Buddhist and their internationally acclaimed spiritual leaders who had visited this far off place in Kishtwar District. They said that DDC Kishtwar instead of addressing the issue misbehaved with the women and threatened the employees of the community with dire consequences.
The angry Buddhist representatives said that administration and police were using the private chopper services as per their whims and choice, but they fail to provide the same to their visiting spiritual leaders. They said that the administration and the police officers plays hide and seeks with them since last several days added that they were even ready to pay Rs. 2 lac rent to "Heritage Chopper" service provider, but the district administration did not give him the permission to fly along with them. They said that the unfortunate attitude of the administration force their spiritual larders to return back by road. They said that administration and senior police officer at Kishtwar also refuse them the chopper service from Kishtwar to Jammu for which they have already paid the money. They said that administration and the senior police officers tried to blackmail the Buddhist spiritual leader by fixing the pre condition that they have to travel to Padder first to get the DDC Kishtwar released which they refused as a result of which they completed the remaining journey by road. They called for immediate transfer of DDC Kishtwar beside also action against him and other.
They said that when DDC Kishtwar was requested to order probe, he turn violent and did not listen to them as a result of which the people turn angry. They said that they have filed a written complaint against DDC Kishtwar and senior Police officials with regard to the series of the event before the Governor as well as before the Prime Ministerial Office seeking action against them for disrespecting the spiritual leaders and Buddhist community of the world.
They said that DDC Kishtwar even threatened them off registration of an FIR against them.
When last report came in, the situation at Padder is normal, but the angry people threaten protest in case the government fails to take action against DDC Kishtwar and others.
