Police acts tough against bovine smugglers, rescues 56 bovines from Ramban & Doda distts

SRINAGAR, Aug 1: In four different cases reported in Ramban and Doda District of Chenab valley in last three days, 56 bovine animals were rescued by Jammu & Kashmir Police and arrested some of the people involved in illegal trade and smuggling of bovine animals.
Details available with Early Times said that on the directions of SSP Ramban Mohan Lal, a police team headed by SHO Ramban Inspector Vijay Kotwal under supervision of Dy. SP HQ Ramban Asgar Malik and under close supervision of Additional SP Sanjay Parihar, laid a naka at Shan palace Ramban.
During checking a truck bearing registration number JK02BQ/ 3171 was intercepted and on its search the truck was found loaded with bovine animals which were being illegally transported towards Kashmir. All the 18 bovine animals were rescued. The vehicle was seized and two suspects namely Abdul Rashid S/O Abdul Gani R/O Bishnah and Farooq Ahmed S/O Abdul Ajaz R/O Talab Tillo Jammu were taken into custody. Case FIR No112/2018 U/S 188RPC, 3PC act stands registered against the suspected persons at Police Station Ramban.
On Tuesday, a police party led by SHO Batote Nazir Ahmed under supervision of Dy. SP HQ Ramban Asgar Malik laid a naka at Nashri, during checking a truck Bearing Reg.No. JK02U/2969, got intercepted and on search it was found that the truck was loaded with bovines and was being transported towards Kashmir. The vehicle was seized and 16 bovines were rescued. One suspect namely Sham Lal S/O Sain Dass R/O Gole Gujral Jammu who also happened to be the driver of truck was arrested. Case FIR No.84/2018 U/S 188RPC,3PC act stand registered against the said person at P/S Batote & rest investigation taken up.
In another case, a police party led by SHO Dharmkund Ramban Ajeet Singh laid a naka near Sumber (Dharmkund). During checking a Tata mobile bearing Registration No.JK02AW/ 2743 was signaled to stop but on seeing the police party the driver of the vehicle started fleeing from the spot. The cops chased and apprehended him and during search it was found that the vehicle was loaded with bovine animals and were being transported towards Kashmir. The vehicle was seized and eight bovines have been rescued. A suspect namely Nazakat Ali S/O Abdul Gani caste Bakerwal R/O Sumber has been taken into custody. In this regard Case FIR No.35/2018 U/S 188RPC, 3PC act stands registered against the accused at P/S Dharmkund and investigation taken up.
Similarly in Doda District, on a specific information regarding bovines smuggling, during intervening night of July 30 and 31, a police party of Operation Dharosh and Police Station Dessa Led by Inspector Inderpal Singh under the supervision of Dy. SP Hqrs Doda Iftkhar Ahmed laid a naka at Manjmi Dessa and intercepted bovine smuggler namely Mohammad Qasim S/O Mohohammad Ibrahim R/o Bhagwah and rescued 14 bovine animals, which he was smuggling towards Anantnag. The smuggler managed to flee from the spot taking the advantage of thick forest. Hectic Efforts are being made to arrest the accused.
In this connection, case FIR Nos. 14/2018 U/S 188 RPC, 3 PC Act has been registered at P/S Dessa. This whole operation was launched on the directions of SP Operations R.P Singh and SSP Doda Mohammed Shabir. Further investigations are going on.
