Early Times Report
JAMMU, Aug 1: The students of the Central University of Jammu accused management of hiking bus fare to Rs1250 per month from 1000 per annum and students are being forced to pay for lunch even if they do not eat.
The management has stuck to the decision of bus fare hike saying that there was no fund to provide free services to the students.
A number of students have been protesting against the management for last two to three days and said that they have met with concerned authorities but they got a cold response from them, forcing to come on road and stage protest dharna against the decision.
"It is unjustified as the prospectus of the Varsity clearly states that yearlh bys dare is Rs1000. We are already paying hefty sums for our courses," said students adding that now they feel awkward for asking more money from their parents.
The students also alleged that the students of the four hostels have to pay for that food (lunch) which they are not eating . The issue was taken with the concerned without results.
"We are spending one lakh only for transportation per month," Professor NK Tripathi said and claimed that the University is not getting any transport fund form the central government, therefore, the management has decided to hike the bus fare.
"As far as lunch is concerned, we are working on the issue to find a midway to resolve the issue as soon as possible, "he added.
