'Swachta Pakhwada' inaugurated at educational institutions

Jammu, Aug 1: Various educational institutions today inaugurated 'Swachta Pakhwada' at their premises and organized various programmes.
The NSS unit of GCOE Jammu inaugurated Swachhta Pakhwada fortnight which is being observed from 1st of August - 15th of August 2018. Prof. Dr. Mushtaq Ahmad Lone, Dean Education, Cluster University Jammu graced the occasion. The formal welcome address was presented by NSS programme officer Prof. Sunita Devi and she also introduced the various activities which are going to be held in pakhwada. Prof. Raj Singh Nariana, incharge Principal enlightened the volunteers regarding cleanliness, sanitation etc. Prof . Dr. Mushtaq Ahmad Lone addressed the NSS volunteers on various issues of swachhta. A seminar cum discussion was also held in which 4 participants presentes regarding cleanliness - Ek Kadam Swachhta Ki Aur.The programme was concluded with an oath by all the volunteers and dignitaries on the occasion.
Swachhta Pakwada was initiated at Government MAM College Jammu today by lightening of the ceremonial lamp followed by one day seminar on Swachhta by the eminent speaker Prof. Dr. M.K Zuthsi who said that cleanliness is next to Godliness and it is our prime duty to keep our surrounding clean. He explained the details of intricacies involved in cleanliness drive in rural and urban areas and the harmful effects of open defecation Dr. Sangeeta Sudan, NSS Coordinator emphasized on cleanliness of mind (Spiritual aspects) and the physical aspect and urged the students to initiate the cleanliness drive from their College itself as charity begins at home and then to proceed to neighboring areas there by setting the ball rolling so that it acquire mega propositions.
NSS Wing of Govt. Degree College Thannamandi inaugurated Swachhta Pakhwada by organising One Day Seminar. Resource person on the occasion was Dr. Shokit Ali, Head, Department of Urdu, while Chief Guest on the occasion was Dr. Shamim Ahmed, Head, Department of Botany. Prof. Saleem Ayaz Rather, Head, Department of Zoology, and NSS Programme Officer, presided over the function.
In his lecture, Dr. Shokit Ali detailed the students about the functions and motto of the NSS, and said that spreading awareness about Cleanliness is a very important objective of the organization. He briefed the audience about the history and role of NSS, and said that students should undertake activities such as cleaning their neighbourhood or planting trees.
